Better than ever. Here's how they compare to the old Aviators.
By R. Bellamy
I have a 20 year old pair of Ray Ban Aviators - 62mm, gold frame, grey lens, not polarized. I have always liked them, but I found that they were too heavy. After I had them on for more than a couple of hours, they started to hurt my nose.A few years ago, I had to start wearing reading glasses. When I purchased them, the optometrist suggested a pair of titanium frames. I can wear them endlessly, because they are so light I virtually forget I have them on.When I found out the Ray Ban Aviators were now available with titanium frames, I just had to have a pair. These new shades are gold with brown, polarized lenses (58mm). When you hold the old pair in one hand and the new pair in the other, you can really feel the difference. They are almost as light as my reading glasses which have much smaller lenses. They still have the classic great looks, and are one of the best designs for driving, because of the thin wire arms and semi-wrap around lenses. No more blind spots. I would have preferred the grey lenses of my older pair, but I decided to try out the brown. They tend to "warm up" colors, block blue and increase contrast somewhat, but not to a distracting degree. Also, they are graduated, so the tinting is not as dark on the bottom of the lenses as the top and are not as dense as the older pair. Frankly, there are times when I like the darker glasses, so I plan to keep the old pair.Personally, I have always thought that Ray Bans were well made, but last week I was talking to a dealer who sells most of the premium brands. He said he didn't know why people thought Ray Bans were so good until he started carrying them. His conclusion was, compared to the other premium brands, they are very good. So if you like the look of the Aviators and want comfortable, lightweight glasses, I think you will love these.

Great sunglasses!
By Vishal Kasliwal
Classic aviators with a titanium frame is what these sunglasses are all about. The titanium frame material keeps these glasses light and yet surprisingly strong, given the thinness of the temples. The polarization on the lenses is very nice and of high quality, however it is of the 'P3' (polycarbonate) variety and not the better 'P3Plus' (glass + better contrast) variety. As an owner of two of the 'P3Plus' lenses, the differences are subtle but unmistakable - greater sharpness and definition. The quality of the lenses in these are not bad by any means though and the lenses serve extremely well under a large variety of situations because of the soft gradient. At the same time, the soft gradient isn't the best for days with near constant direct sunlight - I prefer my solid brown polarized TECH Aviators on those days. In the end, these are an extremely good pair to own for many occasions.

Good service and very nice pair of sunglasses
By Juan Ignacio Nale
I received the sunglasses on time as promised but now I had a concern regarding the authenticity of them. I checked the sunglasses and I found all the authenticity check points (only I did not found the "Polarized" sticker on the left glass; in addition the "lather" case that I received with them is the regular black one and not the gray with the "TITANIUM" word engraved in it. Did you had the same issue?
